Born in Chicago and attended elementary and high school there. Went to the University of Nebraska on a football scholarship but injuries ended his playing days after the first year. After a stint in the military, he enrolled in and became an honor student at the U of Arizona. At U of A, he was President of the business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi and a member of the international honor society for accountants, Beta Alpha Psi. Due to his academic successes and extra-curricular activities, he was one of the most sought-after graduates. Inspired by JFK’s presidency, after graduation in 1965 he turned down more lucrative offers and joined the CIA. He had been detailed to the CIA during his military time, so he knew his academic successes did not prepare him for the world of espionage. But he did know the CIA was staffed by smart, conscientious hard-working men and women. He spent 27 years with the CIA, specializing in the Middle East and living in that part of the world for 20 years. He was the CIA chief in three different Arab Capitals. In Washington, he was in charge of all operations in the entire Arab World. He speaks Turkish, Arabic and French. He was eligible for early retirement at age 50 and decided to take it. He started a business and was the CEO of Global Enterprises International, Inc., with offices in Potomac, Maryland, Istanbul, Turkey and Erbil, Iraq. Since 2005 he and his wife Rhonda have been living in Longboat Key, Florida with their Yellow Labs.
